Newcomers offers more than 30 regularly scheduled activities, including games, book clubs, hiking, dining, happy hours, and exploring the community. Most activities meet monthly year-round. Click here to read our the Club's Responsibility Policy for participation in activities and other functions. Club Members can learn more about and sign up for activities from the Newsletter accessed under Members Only from the Home Page.  All activities are by reservation only. Some activities are RSVP to the coordinator and some are online registration.

Please be considerate of our growing membership when registering for a food or drink activity.  These are our most popular activities, so we ask that you only register for one per month.

Be sure to join the waitlist for activities and there are always cancellations.

FOOD AND DRINK

$10 Wine Club: A lighthearted and social wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres event on a Sunday evening once a month for 6 to 8 people.  Just bring a bottle of wine that costs $10 or less and an appetizer to share. 

Brews Brothers:  Visit Greenville area breweries and bars to sample offerings and meet and casually chat with other beer lovers new to the upstate.

Cocktails R Us: A great opportunity to get to know your fellow newcomers better! Bring an appetizer or dessert and your beverage of choice. Meets on a Saturday evening, usually twice at month at members' homes.

Couples Lunch:  Couples are invited to attend a different restaurant each month for lunch. Venues are selected for good food, pleasing ambiance and quieter atmospheres. 

Couples Dinner Club:  Monthly dining for couples at various area restaurants. 

Craft and Chat: Bring your current craft project and enjoy a relaxed time of creativity and conversation. Whether you knit, crochet, cross-stitch, sketch, etc., this is a casual space to create along side others while socializing.

Dining Out: Two groups that meet for dinner on various nights of the month. We will experience a different area restaurant each month and mingle with fellow newcomers. Reservations required.

Foodies Just Want To Have Fun: A group that meets once a month focused on fostering social dinner experiences.  We will include restaurant choices that promote connections between foodies.  These may range from a super casual BBQ, burger or pizza joint to more moderately priced restaurants.  Some months we may pair a fun activity with the more casual choices (e.g. pizza and bowling, BBQ and putt-putt…).

Grapevine Singles Dinner Group:  Singles Dinner Group centered around food and socializing, a great way to bring people together in a relaxed,

welcoming environment. Where individuals can enjoy good meals, meaningful conversation, and new connections without pressure or expectations. The focus is on building friendships and sharing experiences in a comfortable, low-stress setting. Over time, these gatherings can grow into something more — a supportive circle

Happy Hour: Two separate groups that meet monthly to check out a local establishment and enjoy mingling with other members, new and old. 

Men's Breakfast:  Come join us for breakfast and casual conversation.  This group is a way to make new friends with others who arenew to the greater Greenville area.  Meeting times and locations vary.

Out-To-Lunch-Bunch: Chit-chat over lunch at different restaurants on the 2nd Thursday of each month. This activity is on a reservation basis. Partners/Spouses are welcome.

Sunday Supper Club: Interested people gather in small groups (6-8) in people's homes on the second Sunday of each month. The focus is on getting to know each other and developing friendships while enjoying casual food. 

Weekend Brunch:  A group that meets on Saturday or Sunday once a month to have brunch with fellow newcomers. Reservation required.

Wine Club:  Meets once a month in area bars and wineries.


CARDS AND GAMES

American Canasta: Meets every Monday at 12:30pm at Panera Bread (The Shops at Greenridge) on Woodruff Rd in Greenville. Participants must know the game. Some coaching is available.

Bunco: Bunco is a simple dice game played by rolling specific numbers. Meets once a month.

Euchre (Saturday Evening): The group will meet the 3rd Saturday of the month in members' homes. Beginners are welcome, as well as partners.

Hand and Foot:  Hand and Foot is a partner-based game that combines elements of rummy and canasta. Meets once a month at Panera Bread on Woodruff Rd in Greenville.

Mahjong: Mahjong meets throughout the month at various locations.

Mexican Train:  Meets at Panera Bread (The Shops at Greenridge) on Woodruff Rd in Greenville.  Double 12 rules

Pinochle: Whether a new player wishing to learn or an experienced player, Pinochle is an easy fun activity for all. Normal meeting times are every Sunday at 1:00 p.m. 

Shanghai Rummy:  This rummy game is similar to the card game Phase 10.  Meets once a month.


SPORTS AND ACTIVE LIVING

Par 3 Golf:  Experienced and beginner golfers are welcome. The short nature of a par 3 course simplifies the game for beginners and allows more experienced players to fine tune their skills.  Par 3 courses consist of a series of par 3 golf holes of various lengths.  This activity meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.

Hiking Advanced: A hiking group that encourages hiking for fitness and new fitness experiences. The hikes are moderately paced with distances of 3-7 miles on moderate trails. Partners welcome. Meets monthly but days vary.

Hiking Lite: A group for leisurely hikes on easy rated trails. Distances are usually under 4 miles with less than 400 feet of elevation gain.

Pickleball:  Played Wednesday of every month. Locations will vary.

Smoke Rings and Whiskey Rings:  This occasional gathering is designed for those who enjoy good conversation, a laid-back atmosphere, and the option to savor a fine cigar, a handcrafted cocktail, or both. 


SPECIAL INTERESTS

Book Club (Morning): We meet the 4th Tuesday of every month in the morning to discuss a pre-selected book at Coffee Underground in Greenville.

CinemAfternoon:  Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month to attend a bargain-priced movie matinee followed by discussion of the film. Location rotates between Regal Hollywood and Regal Cherrydale theaters.

Enneagram:  Watch a recorded lecture series and discuss to learn more about the Enneagram and gain insight about ourselves and others.

Explorers: Join the group for fun and informative trips to historic places, art fairs, museums, quaint towns, and much more. Partners are welcome to join in the fun. Generally, meets the 3rd Thursday of the month.
