Newcomers offers more than 25 regularly scheduled activities, including games, book clubs, hiking, dining, happy hours, and exploring the community. Most activities meet monthly year-round. FOOD AND DRINK
$10 Wine Club: Please join us for a lighthearted & social wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres event on the 2nd Sunday evening. Just bring an under $10 wine & appetizer to share.
Cocktails R Us: A great opportunity to get to know your fellow newcomers better! Bring an appetizer or dessert and your beverage of choice. Meets the 2nd Saturday of the month. Partners welcome.
Dining Out: A group that meets for dinner on the last Thursday of the month. We will experience a different area restaurant each month and mingle with fellow newcomers. Partners welcome.
Epicurean Adventures: Cooking demos/presentations are professionally taught at a local cooking facility or in people's home. Each activity features cooking lessons, recipes, and tasting. Meeting times vary.
Happy Hour: Friends check out a local establishment on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Partners welcome.
Men's Breakfast: Come join us for breakfast and casual conversation. This group is a way to make new friends with others who are new to the greater Greenville area. Meeting times and locations vary.
Out-To-Lunch-Bunch: Chit-chat over lunch at different restaurants on the 2nd Thursday of each month. This activity is on a reservation basis. Partners welcome.
Simple Sunday Supper: Interested people gather in small groups in people's homes on the second Sunday of each month. The focus is on getting to know each other and developing friendships while enjoying casual food.
Wine, Distilleries & Breweries: Monthly outing to a local adult beverage location to learn about the business and enjoy the company of other newcomers in a relaxed setting. Partners are welcome. Days and times vary.
CARDS AND GAMES
500 Card Game: This easy-to-learn game features the ease of Euchre coupled with a bit more strategy--think along the lines of bridge. We meet the 2nd Monday of every month at 1 p.m.
American Canasta: Meets 1st & 3rd Monday. Participants must know the game. Some coaching is available.
Bunco Evening: Bunco is a fun and simple game centered around three dice and usually three sets of four players, averaging a standard group of 12. It is a game of pure luck; no real skill is required other than rolling the dice. Bunco meets in the evening on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
Euchre (Saturday Evening): The group will meet the 3rd Saturday of the month in members' homes. Beginners are welcome, as well as partners.
Mah Jongg Beyond Beginners: If you know the basics of Mah Jongg, this group is for you. Meets 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m.
Mah Jongg Advanced: If you are skilled in the game of Mah Jongg, this group is for you. Meets 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month at 1:00 p.m.
Pinochle: Whether a new player wishing to learn or an experienced player, Pinochle is an easy fun activity for all. Normal meeting times are every Wednesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
Scrabble: Join us for a social and live Scrabble game. If you enjoy Words with Friends, you are already halfway there! Meets the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Social Bridge: Please join us for Social Bridge. We offer an afternoon of good company, light refreshments and hopefully, great cards. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Interested in hosting? Please contact the coordinator.
SPORTS AND ACTIVE LIVING
Cups & Pups: If you have a little dog and would like to meet up with other dog owners for some socializing and walking, this activity may be perfect! Day and time varies.
Golf Group: Enjoy 9 or 18 holes of golf on the second Monday morning of each month at Carolina Springs Golf Club. All levels are accepted. This is not an instructional group.
Par 3 Golf: Experienced and beginner golfers are welcome. The short nature of a par 3 course simplifies the game for beginners and allows more experienced players to fine tune their skills. Par 3 courses consist of a series of par 3 golf holes of various lengths. This activity meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.
Hiking Advanced: A hiking group that encourages hiking for fitness and new fitness experiences. Moderately paced with distances of 3-7 miles on moderate trails. Partners welcome. Meets monthly but days vary.
Hiking Lite: A group for leisurely hikes on easy rated trails. Distances are usually under 4 miles with less than 400 feet of elevation gain.
SPECIAL INTERESTS
Book Club (Morning): We meet the 4th Tuesday of every month in the morning to discuss a pre-selected book.
Book Club (Afternoon): We meet the 4th Monday of every month at 1 pm at different homes to discuss a pre-selected book.
Book Club (Evening): Our group meets the 4th Wednesday of the month with the exception of December and July. We keep the group limited to 15 which gives all members the ability to voice their thoughts about the book.
Book Clubs' ListsCinemafternoon: Meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month to attend a movie matinee followed by discussion of the film. Location rotates between Regal Hollywood and Regal Cherrydale theaters.
Explorers: Join the group for fun and informative trips to historic places, art fairs, museums, quaint towns, and much more. Partners are welcome to join in the fun. Generally, meets the 3rd Thursday of the month.
Gardening Excursions: We visit nurseries, local businesses and universities to learn how to garden in the South. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Getting to Know You: A small group to make deeper connections and friendships. Meets the 1st Friday at 1 pm.
Needlework: Everyone brings whatever they want to work on. We may have demonstrations or classes depending on the group's interest. Meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
Working Professionals Social: Have fun and make new connections with other Newcomers who are still working during the day. This group typically meets Thursday evenings but may vary.
