2020-21 Philanthropy:

Due to COVID-19, Senior Action is currently closed. Volunteer activities are temporarily suspended until the facility reopens.

Senior Action

We continue our history of philanthropy by supporting Senior Action for 2020-2021.

Senior Action is a private, non-profit organization established to serve the needs of seniors and their families in Greenville County.  They believe that retirement and growing older is not a period signifying the end, but rather an exclamation point conveying the best, most wonderful time of your life.  Senior Action encourages seniors to live life fully, surrounded by friends sharing the experience.

Senior Action Programs

Wellness:  Senior Action wellness programs for their members include fitness classes, health education and screenings, and SAGA golf tournaments to keep seniors moving, active, and well informed about their health so they can make healthy decisions for their body and mind.

Financial Security:  Understanding your finances and planning well for the future is critical for each of us. Member offerings include free tax preparation assistance, insurance seminars and counseling, and will preparation and estate planning, among others.

Lifestyle:  Seniors can enjoy an active lifestyle that is full of art, music, travel, and so much more. At their activity centers, they offer members classes such as Watercolor, Spanish, Jazz band, and Ballroom dance, games including Bridge and Dominos, and Clubs like Red Hat Society.

Outreach Services:  Senior Action offers a variety of services beyond those in their activity centers to help seniors age in their home as long as possible.  These include Home Delivered Meals, Lawn Care Service, Medical Transportation for non-emergencies, and Minor Home Repair which focuses on reducing falls and hazards in the home such as installing ramps, and minor flooring or roofing repairs.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year offering our members various ways to support Senior Action, primarily at their activity center in Greenville. Newcomers assist with lunch in the Spark Café twice a month, as well as handwrite cards each month to new members and members with anniversaries, birthdays, etc.  These activities give Newcomers opportunities to interact with Senior Action members.

These and additional opportunities will be published monthly in the newsletter.
